Engineered Wood Flooring

Nothing compares with the beauty, charm, texture & timeless elegance of a real hardwood floor. At Floor Design Wetherby we have a great range of engineered wood floors that will add character to any design and could possibly even add value to your property. We work with a range of suppliers to ensure we have a wide selection of high quality beautiful floors to choose from.

What is Engineered Wood?

Engineered wood delivers the stunning visuals of a real wood floor but is much more versatile, efficient and cost effective than a traditional solid wood floor. The planks comprise a top layer of real solid wood bonded to a series of criss-cross base layers, usually made from plywood or Eucalyptus etc. Once fitted the base layers are not visible leaving you with the same look as a solid wood floor.

Why choose Engineered Wood?

Engineered wood will give a truly unique feel to your floor and will cost less than a traditional soli wood option. Engineered wood is also more versatile due to the bonded structure of the criss-crossed base layers. This helps increase stability and reduce the impact of shrinkage/expansion making Engineered wood suitable for use on underfloor heating systems and in rooms with higher moisture content like kitchens and conservatories.

Which areas of the home can Engineered Wood be fitted?

Engineered Wood can be fitted in most areas of the home including, hallways, kitchens, living rooms and even on staircases. With the correct installation we can also fit Engineered Wood over a wide range of underfloor heating systems. Due to the levels of moisture usually present, Engineered Wood is not normally considered suitable for bathroom installations.
