To make an instant impact to the look and feel of your room consider painting the walls, a few tins of paint can work wonders to transform the look and feel of a room. You can refresh all the walls, ceilings and woodwork or focus on a single feature wall in a bold or bright colour.

As stockists of Farrow & Ball we have available the full current range of colours including their fantastic 11 new colours that have just been released. We also have access to the full archive collection of historic Farrow & Ball colours.

It can be overwhelming at first selecting form such a wide range of colour tones, so why not read about the new Farrow and Ball neutral groups or how to work different coloured feature walls into your decorating scheme.

2. Design a bespoke rug

We've seen a huge demand for our bespoke rug service in recent months as customers look to soften areas of hard flooring or search for a quick and impactful way to make a change to a room.

Rugs are perfect for all areas of the home and can help to pull the room together, furniture placed on a bare floor can look unanchored without the unifying influence of a large area rug.

They also help to add texture and interest to a room, use bolder colours or textures to add interest into a neutrally decorated room in a way that is not permanent and can be easily changed. Use different colour bindings on the perimeter of the rug to pick out accent colours in cushions, curtains or other decorative items in the room.

Remember rugs can be used on hard floors and carpets. Use a sisal rug to add an extra dimension to a room that has been carpeted with wool or vice versa.

3. Use laminate to quickly refresh your hard flooring

Often an overlooked product, quality laminate ranges have come on leaps and bounds in recent years beyond what is often found in the chain DIY stores.

Our preferred laminate ranges offer a tough and resilient floor that looks amazingly like real wood. It doesn't need the extensive and costly floor preparations required for LVT floors such as Amtico or Karndean so can be purchased and installed for a fraction of the price of real wood or LVT - perfect for a cost effective new year refresh!

Suitable for all the busy areas of the home as well as lounges and bedrooms most ranges have either a 25 year or lifetime wear warranty.

As well as wallet friendly, laminate is also eco-friendly - made from sustainably sourced timber it has a fraction of the environmental footprint of plastic based products like Amtico and Karndean.

4. Re-carpet your room

Re-carpeting can instantly refresh a room, and can provide added comfort and insulation too. There's a wide range of carpet options to choose from and we like to say there's a carpet for every budget.

Look for environmentally friendly and British made wool carpets or choose from soft and luxurious man-made fibres.

Alternatively explore our our popular range of natural Sisals to add a bit more texture and interest.

We've written a guide to carpet pricing that helps you to understand how carpets can vary so much in price and what to consider when your buying your next carpet.

5. Paint furniture

Painting doesn't have to stop at walls and ceilings. Consider adding a splash of colour to items of furniture too. Be it chairs, tables, sideboards or even refresh your kitchen units!

We recommend Farrow & Ball eggshells as the perfect, eco-friendly, child safe and resilient paint option. Their full current and archive paint ranges are available in two interior eggshell options and an external option for garden furniture and exterior wood and metal work
